Dear Students,
Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. Here's a Haiku to help you remember:
I am first with five
Then seven in the middle
Five again to end.
Now it's your turn. I want you to post a Haiku. I can't wait to read them.

I look forward to reading your posts.

The Migration of Monarchs
Hi Citizen Scientists!
Monarchs have an important role in our community and I want you to learn more about them. Go to the Journey North website by clicking on the Journey North title below and research Monarchs. Choose 3 interesting facts and record them in your Science Notebooks. Choose your favorite fact and post it.
Your post will be in a letter format and you will only sign your first name. Here is an example:
Dear Mrs. Altendahl,
Monarchs are in danger because humans are cutting down the trees that they need to rest in while migrating. We need to do something about this.
Your student,
Cindy
